  • Bonding and Fillings

Your teeth deserve to be functional and beautiful all at once. Dr. Lingo utilizes tooth-colored materials to help rebuild and reshape smiles, one tooth at a time. These treatments can be used alone, in conjunction with other cosmetic dentistry services, or to make over your entire smile. Dental Bonding Repairs Broken or Chipped Teeth Bonding is used to rebuild edges or areas of the teeth that are worn, chipped, or eroded. The process is very simple and normally can be completed in just one visit after being established as a patient. Much like a tooth-colored filling, bonding uses composite material that directly adheres to the tooth and blends in with the surrounding tooth structure. Composite Resin Fillings Offer a Less-Invasive Alternative If you have a new cavity or simply want to replace all of your metal, mercury dental fillings, composite restorations are a great option. Dr. Lingo uses only composite resin in our office, which not only looks great; it is better for your teeth. Less tooth preparation is needed, which keeps fillings smaller and more tooth structure intact. We use a careful color-matching process so that the finished product looks as if nothing has been put in your teeth at all! We are environmentally conscious. When replacing old mercury fillings (silver) with new composite fillings (white), our special amalgam separator collects the mercury for proper, environmentally safe disposal.

  • Cosmetic Dentistry

Dr. Lingo’s restorative and tooth replacement treatments are designed to function exceptionally well, as well as restore aesthetics to your smile. Our crown and bridge treatments use porcelain materials that are both durable and color-matched to closely resemble the appearance of your other teeth. Full Coverage Crowns Crowns are used to repair teeth that have been severely damaged by tooth decay or a fracture. Covering the entire tooth with this restoration allows it to continue functioning normally, without discomfort. Our crowns often last as long as 20 years or more, when the average dental crown typically only lasts 7-10 years. Multi-tooth Dental Bridges A dental bridge is used when one or two teeth are missing. It can be anchored onto adjacent healthy teeth, suspending the false crowns over the open space where the teeth are missing. Bridges can also be placed onto dental implants if there are several missing teeth in one area. By replacing missing teeth with a bridge, other teeth are prevented from shifting out-of-place. Not only do bridges serve an important function with your bite, they also help retain the spacing of teeth throughout your mouth. The Crown and Bridge Treatment Process Completing both procedures are very similar. Each treatment takes two visits. At the first appointment the anchoring tooth is adjusted so that it can support the crown or bridge. An impression is then taken and a temporary restoration is placed over the tooth/teeth. In about 2-3 weeks, your permanent crown or bridge will be ready for delivery. The temporary restoration is removed and then the permanent restoration is bonded into place. When placing a crown or bridge in the front of your smile, Dr. Lingo uses BioTemps® for the temporary restoration at no additional charge. This ensures that our patients have a natural looking temporary while waiting for the permanent. Veneers Porcelain veneers are a wonderful option if you’re looking to completely make over your entire smile. Instead of using a combination of various different treatments, veneers provide a one-time dramatic change to your smile. Veneers are thin shells of porcelain that are placed over the front of teeth, helping them look: Straighter Whiter Fuller The Treatment Process Your first visit with Dr. Lingo will be a consultation where we will discuss your smile concerns. Do you have chipped enamel, crooked teeth, or discoloration that you want to correct? All of this will be discussed, as well as what you want your future smile to look like. We will then take an impression of your teeth and make a mock-up of what your potential veneers will look like. Once you’re ready to move forward, we will have a preparation visit where your teeth are gently contoured and a new impression is taken. Temporary veneers will be placed over the teeth to prevent sensitivity as the permanent porcelain veneers are being made. Within about 2-3 weeks, you’ll come back for your new veneers to be bonded permanently into place. Veneers are Perfect for Teeth that are: Chipped Discolored Have spaces between them Shorter, worn, or misshape Slightly crooked We invite you to visit us to find out more about how veneers can give you the smile of your dreams!

  • Dental Implants

Dr. Lingo provides mini dental implants, final dental restorations, and even full-mouth implant dentures! Our mini dental implant treatments require little to no recovery time and can be placed in just one appointment. Dental implants offer the convenience and reliability of natural teeth. As new bone forms around this artificial root, it becomes so secure that it can support more weight than a real tooth. Dental Implants Are Used For: Dentures Missing Tooth Restoration Multiple Tooth Dental Bridges Full Mouth Implant Dentures Who is an Ideal Dental Implant Candidate? Dental implants are perfect for people who have lost their natural teeth. If you have a missing tooth due to decay, disease, or an accident – then an affordable dental implant is one of the best ways you can replace that tooth. Implants also help you retain your natural biting function, self-confidence and avoid other types of problems caused by missing teeth. To be a candidate for dental implants, your implantologist will need to see whether or not you have enough healthy bone to support the implant. An implant is actually an artificial tooth root that is placed into your jaw. The implant root, just like a real tooth, is used to support a fixed prosthesis. You can have an implant crown, bridge or even an implant supported denature anchored over the artificial root. Because the success rate of implants is so high, our implant dentist Dr. Lingo can give you results that last a lifetime. Life Long Tooth Replacement How long do dental implants last? Having an implant specialist like Dr. Lingo complete your treatment will have a tremendous impact on your results. Dental Implant Crowns, Bridges and Dentures Once your dental implants are installed, our implantologist, Dr. Lingo, will create new implant teeth to go over your implant root. • Dentures and Partials

Dentures and Partials Replacing all or several teeth at one time can easily be done with our premium dentures and partial dentures. Both prostheses are removable appliances that are customized to fit your smile and stay securely in place all day long. The material used is one that uses colored acrylic that matches your natural gum tissue and tooth colored material that allows the prosthetic teeth to have a natural appearance. Premium Full Mouth Dentures Our full mouth dentures are made of natural colored materials that restore your self-confidence as well as function long-term. Patients have the option of having their dentures anchored in place permanently with dental implants, providing them with more stability and security. We provide 2 types of dentures: Conventional - Conventional dentures are placed after any necessary teeth have been removed and the tissue inside your mouth has healed. Immediate - Immediate dentures are placed in your mouth immediately after any necessary extractions. They are more convenient for some people, but will require a relining after tissues have completely healed. Partial Dentures Less time is needed to make a partial denture, since fewer teeth are involved. Partials are an alternative to fixed bridges or implants when it comes to replacing several teeth at once. Partials are a viable option when there are healthy teeth that can be used to anchor the prosthesis. The final prosthesis can be made of acrylic or have a metal base, which clasp around the anchor teeth. Benefits of Dentures Denture specialists create customized prosthesis to rebuild your smile from start to finish. With dentures, you can replace all of your teeth at once. Fewer appointments are necessary than with other types of smile rehabilitation. In fact, most dentures can be made and delivered between just two visits to our Evansville dental office. • Endodontics Therapy

Endodontics Therapy Endodontic treatment is commonly referred to as root canal therapy. During an endodontic procedure, the infected nerve tissue of a tooth is removed, and a filling material is placed inside of the tooth. This prevents a relapse in infection as well as the tooth being destroyed from the inside-out. Having a root canal procedure done is almost like any other dental treatment, except it usually takes just a little longer. When is a Root Canal Necessary? Root canals are the last line of defense for broken or decayed teeth. If a root canal is delayed or avoided, the tooth will eventually become un-restorable, requiring an extraction. Teeth that need root canals typically have: Large cavities or fractures that extend into the nerve chamber of the tooth Trauma that has caused the tooth to be non-vital and is becoming discolored Abscesses (Throbbing Pain) Cracks through the root Severe or lingering tooth sensitivity What Other Treatments Are Necessary? After your root canal, your tooth no longer has an active blood supply. Because the inner chamber is sealed off, the outlying tooth enamel may be prone to becoming brittle. That’s why it’s important to place a titanium post and a full coverage crown over the tooth once endodontic therapy is completed.

  • Extractions (Oral Surgery)

Extractions (Oral Surgery) There are a variety of reasons why people require dental extractions. Sometimes it’s related to an infected tooth, pain, or even for orthodontic treatment. Dr. Lingo provides comfortable extraction services thanks to local anesthesia as well as our sedation options if needed. Types of Extraction Procedures Dr. Lingo Offers Include: Simple ExtractionsA simple extraction is a straightforward procedure that does not require any surgical procedures. The area around the tooth is numbed with local anesthetic and the tooth is gently rocked back and forth until it becomes dislodged and is easily removed. Surgical Extractions These extractions are a little more involved, as the tooth may be partially or fully unerupted. It is necessary to reflect the gum tissue and possibly adjust the bone around the area as well. Recovery Following Your Extraction Following your home care instructions will speed up your recovery and help reduce the risk of complications like dry socket. It will take up to 2 weeks for the extraction site to completely heal, so be sure to avoid things like smoking or drinking through a straw, which can interfere with the healing process. The first few days will need to be restricted to a soft diet like ice cream, yogurt, or eggs. We’ll provide you with a set of written instructions following your procedure so that you’ll know what to expect! Following surgical procedures, patients routinely receive a phone call from Dr. Lingo that evening to check on their welfare and answer any questions or concerns

  • Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal Therapy Periodontal disease (also called “gum disease”) is a condition that causes more people to lose their teeth than any other dental condition, including tooth decay. Deep Cleanings Scaling and root planing (“deep cleanings”) allow us to physically remove the calcified bacteria on the roots of the teeth that contribute to gum and bone loss. This cleaning allows you to go back to maintaining your oral health and preventing future bone loss from occurring. For most of our patients we request that a regular periodontal maintenance visit be conducted every 3 months. ATRIDOX® Treatments Following your deep cleaning, we will also treat any significant areas of disease with a locally placed antibiotic called ATRIDOX®. This medication placement allows a more aggressive treatment in areas where you need it most. Our goal is to reverse all symptoms of gum disease and to prevent any further bone loss from taking place. When treated properly, gum tissue can also experience some reattachment. If you’re struggling with symptoms of gum disease, we invite you to call our office before it’s too late. Pinhole Surgical Technique The Chao Pinhole® Surgical Technique (PST®), invented and patented by John Chao, D.D.S., is a scalpel-free, suture-free procedure for treating gum recession. This procedure is performed by making a small hole with a needle in the gum tissue. Using specially designed instruments, the gum tissue is loosened and guided over the receded part of the tooth. Since there is no incision or suturing, patients can expect minimal post-operative symptoms (pain, swelling and bleeding). Most patients also are pleasantly surprised by the instant cosmetic improvement. Also checkout:

  • Preventive Dentistry

Preventive Dentistry Preventive dental care helps keep your smile healthy for years. Dr. Lingo wants his patients to be able to avoid common oral complications that cause discomfort or result in expensive treatments later on. That’s why we have a preventive care team devoted to helping patients make the most of their smiles and keep their teeth healthy from the start! Comprehensive Exams Establishing a baseline of your oral health enables Dr. Lingo to identify risks and problems before they become serious issues later on. Every examination screens for conditions like weak or decayed teeth, bone levels, gum health, and much more. Preventive Cleanings and Oral Hygiene Instruction Professional cleanings remove calcified bacteria from areas that are missed by brushing or flossing. This buildup would otherwise cause bone loss and gum disease. For most healthy adults and children, we recommend a preventive cleaning every 6 months. Our team will also work with you to identify ways to improve your current method of plaque control. Oral Cancer Screenings Oral cancer is a deadly disease that can be hard to identify in the earliest stages. Most people do not realize that they have oral cancer until it has spread to a large area. Nor do people realize that you do not necessarily have to be a smoker or drink alcohol to develop oral cancer. Sun exposure and some viruses are also known to cause the condition. Dr. Lingo performs a thorough cancer screening on every patient to identify irregular tissues when treatment is easier and more effective. Digital Radiographs We utilize digital X-rays, which reduces radiation as well as enhances the way Dr. Lingo is able to communicate with his patients. All images are instantly visible on our in-room monitor, making it easier for us to discuss findings or concerns related to specific teeth. Intra-oral Imaging Our intra-oral cameras allow us to capture images of areas of concern or problem teeth. These images are then displayed on a monitor in the treatment room for you to discuss with Dr. Lingo. We believe our intra-oral imaging is one of the best ways to communicate specific needs with our patients, especially when symptoms are not present. Laser Cavity Detection When tooth decay is identified in its earliest forms, it can be addressed with non-invasive techniques like fluoride and sealants. Or if the tooth is only mildly cavitated, a small restoration can be placed before more tooth structure becomes involved. Our laser decay detection allows us to do just that…identify tooth decay before X-rays or clinical exams can.

  • Sedation Dentistry

Sedation Dentistry Everyone Deserves a Comfortable Dental Experience Whether you’ve been going to the dentist for years, or need to catch up on years away from the dentist, we have the perfect option for you – sedation dentistry! Our sedation options are ideal for anyone who wants to simply enjoy a comfortable experience, or ease their anxiety about dental care. Dr. Lingo is a trained and licensed sedation dentist and we utilize strict safety precautions during your treatment. We offer two types of sedation dentistry: Oral Conscious Sedation (OCS) Oral conscious sedation utilizes prescription sedatives that are taken before your appointment. Although you will feel very sleepy and relaxed, you will still be able to verbalize your wants and needs. Most people, however, report that they feel as if they are dreaming right through their visit and don’t remember a thing! You’ll feel relaxed as your treatment ends and you head home to recover. Since it takes a few hours for medications to wear off, you’ll need to have a friend or family member drive you to and from your visit with us. Inhalation Sedation Inhalation sedation uses nitrous oxide gas to help create a relaxed sensation as you’re sitting through your dental procedure. The gas is easily adjusted, providing just the right amount of relaxation under Dr. Lingo’s care. It can be used for any procedure and is quickly reversible, so you can drive yourself back home or to work once your visit is over.

  • Sleep Apnea

Sleep Apnea Sleep apnea and sleep disordered breathing is something that doesn’t just keep you from getting the rest you need, it also tremendously increases your risk of other health problems like: Strokes Heart attack and cardiovascular disease Headaches Depression Heartburn Chronic sleepiness You may have been told that the only way you could treat sleep apnea is with invasive equipment, such as a CPAP machine. Thankfully, Dr. Lingo is able to offer a unique service to patients that allow them to begin having a better quality of sleep from the very first night. TAP Sleep Apnea Oral Devices The TAP appliance uses customized mouth trays that fit around your teeth and hold your jaws and tongue in a relationship that prevents blockage of the airway. Without the device, soft tissues like the tongue, soft palate, and back of the airway tend to come together and seal off the airflow. Wearing a TAP appliance prevents this from happening! Instant Results Using a TAP appliance helps almost anyone reduce his or her risk of sleep apnea caused by collapsing of the airway. All that is needed is an impression of your teeth! With this impression, Dr. Lingo will have the custom-fitted TAP made to fit your individual mouth. The comfortable acrylic trays stay in place without any irritation or bulky equipment. The very first night you wear your TAP appliance, you’ll see results!

  • Snoring Treatments

Snoring Treatments Our snoring treatments help eliminate snoring and sleep disturbances for you and your loved ones from the very first time it is worn. Snoring not only makes it difficult for you or the person you love to sleep at night, it is also linked with problems like: High blood pressure Cardiovascular disease Depression Obesity Insomnia Reflux disease Silent Nite Snoring Appliances Dr. Lingo uses Silent Nite, a customized appliance that naturally opens the airway and reduces between 75-100% of snoring in his patients. The Silent Nite prosthesis looks just like a set of clear retainers that snap onto your teeth. The straightforward approach is based on the techniques used during rescue breathing! How Do Silent Nite Snoring Treatments Work? It’s simple! The Silent Nite prosthesis keeps the jaw positioned so that soft tissues in the back of the throat do not seal off your airway. Many people experience their jaw sliding back when they sleep, which causes the back of the throat, palate, and other soft tissues to come together and seal off air. Our process isn’t like something you purchase over the counter. Each snoring guard made by Dr. Lingo is custom-fitted. That means it will stay in place when you need it the most, so that you and your family can get a good night’s sleep. What are you waiting for? All that is needed is an impression of your teeth. Call us to schedule an appointment today. In no time, you’ll have a custom made snoring guard and be sleeping sounder than you have in years.

  • Teeth Grinding

Teeth Grinding Grinding your teeth together is something that some people do unconsciously or when they sleep. This habit called bruxism can lead to complications like: Abnormally worn teeth Damaged restorations Compromised tooth stability Gum recession Broken prosthetics like dentures or bridges When our mouth is at rest, the teeth should be apart with the lips touching. Clenching the teeth or grinding them together is just one way that some people exhibit stress or anxiety. How can you tell if you’re grinding or clenching your teeth? Some symptoms include: Sore jaw muscles Sensitive or loose teeth Headaches or earaches Pain through the neck and shoulders Popping or clicking of the TMJ Thankfully, we are able to help patients avoid damage to their teeth and eliminate symptoms of teeth grinding by making custom-fitted mouth guards. Mouth Guards for Grinding A custom-made mouth guard is a removable prosthesis that is worn at night (or during stressful times, such as rush hour). The guard protects the teeth from wearing against one another or severe tension of the jaw muscles. Wearing a guard is one of the best preventive measures you can take to protect the future of your smile. It just takes one visit for an impression, and in a week or two you’ll have your custom-fitted appliance, ready to take home!
